Destroy pigs by catapulting birds
Angry Birds is an addictive bird-flinging casual game, which has proved one of the most popular iOS games of all time.
Beware the birds
Your mission in this raucous iPhone game is to destroy all the green pigs by catapulting birds at them. This wouldn't be too difficult, except for the fact the hogs are holed up inside fortified castles which you need to smash into in order to enter. As the levels progress, these fortresses become ever harder to break down, so Angry Birds requires a bit of lateral thinking as well as a steady aim. There are dozens of levels, so it'll be a long time before you get bored of Angry Birds.
As you complete more levels, your posse of agitated avians grows even larger. Some of these birds have different abilities: tropical birds act as a boomerang, white chicken-esque birds drop explosive eggs, and black birds charge up and release a powerful electrical charge. The variety of birds helps to keep levels fresh and challenging.
Flying made easy
To fire a bird you simply pull back on the catapult, adjust the trajectory, then release your finger. You can shoot a limited number of birds per turn, and if you don't destroy every pig then you'll have to start the level again.
As mentioned above, some of the birds have special abilities. You can activate these by tapping the screen while the birds are soaring through the air.
As well as being great fun to play, Angry Birds looks the part too. Graphics are colorful and fun, and the bird noises and sound effects are hilarious. Levels are divided into different themes; some are beside a sunny beach while others are in a gloomy mine shaft.
Surprisingly, the screen doesn’t feel cluttered despite lots of action happening. However, if you feel like playing the game on a larger screen, why not download Angry Birds for PC and play it in Windows?
Have a blast with the birds
Overall though, Angry Birds is enjoyable enough to put a smile on the face of even the most sullen iPhone gamer.
